The swamp is packed, but the open water is producing

The swamp on the north end of Lake Marion sees a lot of activity anytime there’s a tournament on the Santee Cooper Lakes. This week is no different. But close quarters aren’t where the leaders are catching them. 

Compare these pictures from the the congested swamp with the four-box we’re seeing on Bassmaster LIVE right now. No doubt an angler or two near the top of the leaderboard caught them in the swamp. But our top 4 after Day 1 are all out in the open, targeting isolated cover like stumps and clumps of eel grass.
