‘Heroes of the sport’ is a bit of a stretch. But ‘grizzled veterans, voracious greenhorns, and expert artists’ doesn’t quite do these guys justice either. This is the crew, at least in large part, that spends their time behind the lens, in front of the computers, and on the headsets. These guys work tirelessly, quickly, smoothly, and efficiently to bring you the goods on Bassmaster LIVE.
If you’ve never shouldered a LIVE television camera before, it’s like stacking a couple of finder blocks on your shoulder. Then, to get the juice on the Elite Series, you’ve got to hold it there for 8 hours straight, all the while literally putting your life at risk. Irreparable damage has been done and/or will be done to the bodies of these cameramen. Sleep will be lost by the whole crew. Sacrifices are made daily by all their families. All to pursue the part of this sport they are most passionate about, catching the anglers catching the fish. If there are heroes in professional bass fishing, these are them.
