Caleb Sumrall is only the second (to our knowledge) angler to head over to the Houston area. Scott Martin also made the run early this morning. Sumrall followed suit after fishing for nearly two hours closer to Orange.
“I really think I needed to make this run to separate myself,” Sumrall said as he made his first few casts after the arduous run.
“Hopefully it pays off with a little size. It’s a big gamble, to get those couple good bites that we really need to have a good day.”
So far, nothing to show for the run. The Louisiana native has the same four fish that he hauled over to from Orange. He currently sits in 49th. But a couple 2- to 3- pound bites would move him well into the Top 10. By making this run, Sumrall has committed to sacrificing four hours of fishing time. We’ll have to wait and see if the run pays off.
