Steve Kennedy is one of the most likable guys on the Elite Series. Down to earth, willing to talk to anyone, and a lot of fun to listen to.
“It’s a biggun. It’s a striper or something. It’s a bass.”
Kennedy rattled off every thought that went through his head as he loaded up on a big fish. The fish made a quick surge, but then came straight to the surface and started shaking its head.
“There were a bunch swimming around that tree yesterday. (Indistinguishable squeal).”
Kennedy is fishing around sandstone, targeting shad spawn-related bass with a 6-inch swimbait.
“Where you going, dude? No no no no no. Stay down. Stay down. Come on baby. That’s a big one dude.”
Kennedy was pulled around the boat as the mean Santee Cooper bass battled to break free.
“Come here come here come here. Wow. What a fish. That ought to be pushing 6. I shake bad to begin with.”
Kennedy was shaking so bad he was having a hard time unhooking the fish. There’s been a LIVE camera in the boat with Kennedy since Day 1 of this event. He openly questioned the decision early in the week, stating very honestly that he wasn’t on anything and didn’t know why they’d be putting a camera with him.
This is why Steve. This is why.
“Give me some knucks. Man, we needed that.”
Kennedy turned to his cameraman and celebrated with him, along with all of us watching as well. What a likable guy, fun to watch and fun to listen to too.
