“I didn’t think this would work today,” remarked Kyle Welcher, “but it is.”
What Welcher is doing, ultimately, is sight fishing; however, the 13 Fishing Pro is throwing a finesse presentation while he trolls from bed to bed and he’s been able to pick up several cruisers that way that have counted towards the limit of bass in his Caymas Livewell.
Welcher is also fishing an area of the lake where we’ve seen very little competitor traffic, mainly compared to my Day 1 ride, where we were around other Elite anglers most of the day.
Additionally, Welcher has culled out his smallest bass twice now but admittedly has work to do. Our BassTrakk is a little light.
The Marathon Bassmaster Elite at Lake Murray cut projection should be around the 33-35 pound mark and with 18 pounds on Day 1, Welcher knows what he’s got to accomplish today in order to make Saturday.
