Tyler Rivet went straight back to his jerkbaiting, forward-facing-sonar bite, and put a big one in the boat right away. It weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces.
“They’re all that big,” Rivet said as he fought this fish in, one that hit his bait 3 feet from the trolling motor.
Rivet has to be really happy with the start, after grinding through a tough Day 3, when his weight dropped from 29 pounds, 2 ounces on Day 2 to 14 pounds, 11 ounces.
Rivet fires the first shot of Championship Sunday. A few more like that early and he’ll stagger the competition.
