As all eyes shifted to Tyler Rivet midway through the event last week, there was a collective mix of shock, a sense of intrigue and even a hint of frustration when we discovered the shallow-water specialist from south Louisiana looking at his graph with a jerkbait in his hand. We wanted to see Tyler Rivet doing what he does, frogging and flipping in the overabundance of shallow vegetation on Lake Okeechobee.
Well yesterday, we saw Rivet doing what he was supposed to be doing, fishing super thick vegetation super shallow. He proved he’s versatile last week, but he’s doing what he first loved to do here. And it’s working well, with Rivet unofficially in the lead on BassTrakk with a limit for 13 pounds.
