Luke Palmer is at a loss for words right now. He’s making lots of exhilarated noises, but having a hard time otherwise capturing what he’s feeling. Palmer isn’t worried about the wind, he’s in one of the most protected areas of this fishery. He’s not worried about the competition, knowing if he just does his job then no one can catch him. And he’s not worried about finesse fishing.
Palmer’s flipping stick has visibly jumped at times on Bassmaster LIVE, as big bass continue to thump his YUM Wooly Bug. He has three in the boat already, worth 15 pounds.
It’s been astonishingly hard to get bites on Lakes Marion and Moultrie this week. So much so that only four of our Top 10 anglers have caught a limit all three days. The picture of consistency this week, Palmer is one of those four. And his weights have actually grown each day. He had 21-3 on Day 1, 23-9 on Day 2 and 26-3 yesterday. Like a Krispy Kreme employee his first week on the job, Palmer has gained weight every day. If he does so again today and weighs 29 pounds and 1 ounce, he’ll break 100 pounds.
He just boated another over 4 pounds.
