Brandon Palaniuk was as tense as you’ll ever see him on Day 2, with only three fish in the well late in the day.
He filled his limit around 8 AM this morning and has now culled his way into the Top 10 here on Day 3.
Having needed to only finish 38th or better here this week to claim his second Progressive Angler of the Year title, he’s caught what he needs to catch to get that done. Now, he just has to make it to weigh-in.
Continuing to fish loose, we saw Palaniuk start in a new location this morning, a shallow sandbar. The bass were busting all around BP, and they were biting his baits as well. Filling a limit quickly with a soft plastic jerkbait and large topwater, Palaniuk even boat flipped two at a time at one point.
A drastically different day compared to yesterday, and the weight of the world has lifted off his shoulders. He’s no doubt now having a hard time trying not to think about gravity’s pull on that AOY trophy he’ll be hoisting soon.
