Palaniuk draws strength from the elk

Rick Clunn has been known to study the Native Americans. The Native Americans leaned heavily on the Buffalo.

Brandon Palaniuk is drawing strength today from the elk. During a couple of runs today, Palaniuk has pulled a burrito shaped foil wrap from his cooler and munched a delicious looking wrap with meat and vegetables between runs. He even offered me one somewhere along the way and I politely declined, not wanting to covet another man’s lunch.

On his second wrap, I asked, “What kind of wrap you got there,” Palaniuk responded, “It’s elk roast that Tiffanie prepared last night. It’s from the elk I took with my bow on a hunt last fall.”

The SIMMS Pro is known to be an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting in the offseason. The elk was a tremendous harvest for Palaniuk. “Kyle (Palaniuk’s videographer) shot the hunt and I shot the elk,” Palaniuk laughed.

Hunting stories aside, Palaniuk is drawing strength and nourishment from the elk, but his sites are set on harvesting a blue trophy at Santee Cooper this week.
