Brandon Palaniuk has miraculously rode the back of Beeswax Creek all but to the finish line of the Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Lay Lake. The 3-6 he caught at 11:38 (his latest manifestation of sheer will), was just enough to keep a little cushion between he and the rest of the field.
Since then though, Jason Christie and Bryan New have both inched closer. And Will Davis Jr is still hanging around less than 6 pounds back, with only four fish in the boat. Palaniuk is surviving for the moment. But remember, many of the biggest bass of the week have come in these last two hours, including Christie’s 9-4 yesterday and Cliff Prince’s 6-4 on Day 2. Still anybody’s game.
