We were curious to see how many anglers would make the long run out to Lake Erie today, opting to distance themselves physically from the bulk of the other competitors that are fishing in Lake St. Clair. Chad Pipkens and Matt Robertson were the only two to trade that long run for open real estate.
Pipkens has one small keeper to show for his decision so far, sitting in 70th at the moment. But he’s just now really settling in over there, with plenty of fishing time to put something together and fishing in a fairly protected part of Erie. Robertson has yet to report a catch on BassTrakk.
Great Lakes expert and smallmouth guru Chris Johnston predicted during practice that someone will do good in this event running to Erie. We’ll keep an eye on the two anglers that have a chance to fulfill this prophecy.
