With roughly an hour left until the first flight is due in, let’s take a look at the leaderboard. Matt Robertson has a seemingly comfortable lead, over 6 pounds ahead of Brandon Cobb. Cobb could cull up quickly though. He has 19 pounds, but his smallest is 2-4. Paul Mueller sits in third, 7 pounds back. Two massive opportunities have slipped through Mueller’s fingers, otherwise he’d likely be leading.
Josh Stracner (4th), Luke Palmer (5th), Drew Benton (6th) and Steve Kennedy (7th) have all rallied on Day 2, with 17- plus- pound bags. The biggest being Benton’s 22. Bryant Smith started the day in second, but has had a brutal outing. He’s up to three fish for 8 pounds now and sits in ninth. Brandon Palaniuk rounds out the Top 10 with an estimate 34-14 for two days.
Other noteworthy catches include Jason Christie’s 18-0 and Bob Downey’s 19-10. Christie has moved from 73rd where he started the day to 29th. Downey up from 95th to 40th. The 50 cutline to fish tomorrow belongs to Jay Przekurat at the moment, with 22-13.
