Kyle Norsetter started the morning sitting in 4th place after weighing 24-13 on Day 1. He’s off to a good start this morning with a 5-pounder.
“There’s 8 more with it,” said Norsetter during the fight. “Literally 8 more. I can see them on LiveScope.”
He hooked up with the bass while throwing a spinnerbait near a clump of eel grass. A very productive clump, apparently.
“Can you see the clump of eel grass I’m fishing,” Norsetter asked his cameraman.
This one small clump produced a 5- and 1/2- pounder yesterday and then a 5-pounder today. The morning had been a brutally slow grind up to this point, with nothing to show for the first hour of Norsetter’s day.
“Was kind of worried for a second. Gotta be patient. One down, four to go.”
Norsetter knows that if he can average a bite an hour like this one, he’ll be sitting right where he wants to be at the end of the day. It’s hard to focus for 200 casts between bites, but these guys are the best of the best, both mechanically and mentally. And it’s a game of both out there right now.
