“We weigh-in at 4:30, we could have zero at 4 and still be leading this thing.”
This is what South Carolina native and longtime Lake Murray frequenter Bryan New just said on Bassmaster LIVE MIX. It’s been a slow grind for New so far this morning, hopping from spot to spot.
“We just gotta pull up on the right one.”
New knows, one stop on one spot where the fish are firing could result in 20- plus pounds in a matter of minutes. Targeting bass that are feeding on herring can be very frustrating, as the nomadic baitfish roam around constantly. Day to day, any given spot might (or might not) hold fish. Thus, running and gunning a milk run of long shallow points that have proven productive in the past is the best bet. That’s what New is doing today. He hasn’t collided with the bass and herring yet. But he’s more than optimistic, or at least trying to convince himself he is.
