After a quick stop on a point to start Championship Saturday at the Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Lake Oahe, Bryan New has moved down lake to an area also occupied by Matt Robertson.
Like many anglers this week, New is focusing on his forward-facing sonar.
“I don’t look up much when I’m doing this,” he commented.
New enters Championship Sunday in 9th place with 47-4. He started the tournament just outside the Top 3 with a 19-5 ounce bag but stumbled on Day 2 with 10-11. The South Carolina pro recovered on Day 3 with 17-4 to qualify for the final day.
So far it’s been a slow morning, as he’s seen a lot of walleye on his live sonar and he has moved on.
Meanwhile, a short way back up lake is where Chris Johnston is. He entered the day in third and has landed two fish so far this morning for 3-14. He is looking to reclaim the top spot and win a second Elite Series title after a tough Day 3 on Lake Oahe.
