Whether fishing shallow or deep this week, the productive areas our leaders found have been the minutia amongst the monstrosity of expansive underwater forests and spawning flats as far as the eye can see. The shallow water areas look obvious and bountiful to the casual onlooker. But anglers spent what amounts to three days looking for a needle in a haystack, only to find there wasn’t even a needle in the haystack they were digging through.
And the deeper water bite like what Joey Cifuentes III has found barely crossed the minds of most, even with what Tyler Rivet did last week and John Crews Jr did to start the 2022 season. Even for the few that ventured into the woods, they did good to survey 5 acres of forest amongst the thousands of woods available. The fishing looks easy in these productive areas. But productive areas are few and far between.
