The 2023 Marathon Bassmaster Elite at Lake Murray has begun. The last few boats are leaving the dock now, as 103 anglers head out onto Murray for the third stop of the Elite season.
There’s a mixture of things happening on Murray this week. The lake is fishing a little funky, but expect a lot of action early. Anglers are reporting that there’s still a little bass spawning activity. So we should see a few quality fish caught quickly, as anglers run straight to bass they have located on bed.
The morning flurry won’t stop there though, as the shad and herring spawns are both happening now as well. This should create chaos on BassTrakk this morning, as these two bites are typically hot and heavy for the first hour and then fade away as the sun rises high.
