Brock Mosley mentioned yesterday that a key to his success this week has been having a limit by about 11:30 every day. He landed his fifth keeper today just about on schedule – at 12:07. Mosley started the day in first place, 6 ounces ahead of Jason Christie. He now trails Christie by less than 2 pounds, according to BassTrakk.
“Every day they’ve been in a different mood,” said Mosley, who has cycled through a bladed jig, a lipless crankbait and various flipping baits to determine the bass preference for the day. “The last two days, the flipping bite has been slow. It’s been moving baits. I kind of have to mix it up until I get a feel for what mood their in each day.”
Mosley’s consistent success is somewhat deceiving, as he noted, “I’ve been worried about catching a limit every day.”
That worry is over now. The 33-year-old resident of Collinsville, Miss., has another concern – breaking his string of four Elite Series second-place finishes without a victory. One of those runner-ups was to Jason Christie at the Sabine River last year.
