All season, Scott Martin has maintained a gutsy mission statement: Don’t worry about points; just fish to win.
There’s a lot of tournament left to fish, but a spectacular morning has the Florida pro on course to make a serious run at the title.
By 10 o’clock, Martin had tallied a limit of 13-1. His catch is the day’s third largest, behind the 13-12 posted by Jay Przekurat, who leads the Falcon Rods Elite Series Rookie of the Year race and the 13-3 from Chris Johnston, who currently tops the BassTrakk standings.
Crucial to Martin’s day was the back-to-back big fish series that put a 3-5 and a 3-pounder in his live well.
Look for Martin to keep his foot on the gas.
