Scott Martin has been doing some culling this morning, lots of it.
As Martin has made his way through a dozen cookie-cutter 2- and 1/2- pounders, he’s spent a considerable amount of time with his livewell lids open. To prevent the chance of a fish escaping while he’s deciphering which is the smallest, Martin has opened his back compartment kids as well to create a nice little cubby to cull from.
May seem a bit excessive to some, but this is actually really smart. Many a fish in the hand has made its way back into the water when measuring, weighing and culling— the most notable coming to mind cost Jim Bitter the Bassmaster Classic in 1989.
Martin is on the bubble to make the 2023 Classic. He’s not taking any chances.
