Scott Martin just put his second big bass in the boat. He’s fishing a prop bait, a longtime staple in every Florida angler’s tackle box.
Using his prop bait, Martin has methodically picked apart a shallow spawning flat, having lost another big one already this morning. The bass are likely bedding. Martin has spent a good bit of his time staring at his forward facing sonar, suggesting that he’s seeing these fish on beds on his graph before getting them to bite.
Martin has racked up an indiscernible amount of Florida fishing knowledge over the course of his life. And it’s paying off big this morning, with a hidey hole all his own and the arsenal needed to get the bass in this spot to bite. Though it was too cold in practice for the prop bait to work, Martin knew to pull it out this morning as the warmer water in the lower 70s is now perfect for this presentation.
A lot of pressure on Martin to perform well here this week. So far he’s more than living up to it with nearly 19- pounds and the lead.
