“It’s crazy what this thing teaches you,” Tyler Rivet remarked, looking down at his forward facing sonar.
He explained to his cameraman that the bass were spawning near wood in deeper water. So any point he could find with a little wood on it held a bass.
“They’re spawning on it. People just can’t see them cause they’re in like 8 feet of water.”
Rivet spent nearly all of his time at the season opener on Lake Okeechobee looking down at his graph. It resulted in his first Elite Series win. Rivet is still learning this new technology in real-time right before our eyes, as are the other Elite anglers. And they’re offering up more and more insight by the minute. If you hate forward facing sonar, it’s understandable, and I’m sorry. But if you want to get better at it, there’s no better place to sit and soak up info than Bassmaster LIVE.
