Chris Johnston started this event by catching most of his weight off one hole using a Ned rig. He told us he was relying heavily on that starting spot, and he’d be in trouble if it went away. That bite had him in the lead after Day 2, but it blew up this morning.
Johnston swapped over to a hollow body frog less than an hour ago, which he has caught a key fish or two on already this week, and preceded to rocket back up the leaderboard with three critical culls.
Johnston now sits in the lead again, an estimated 11-ounces ahead of Bryan New.
What a run Johnston has had through the last three events of the season. To finish the year, Johnston placed 6th at the St Lawrence, 2nd on Oahe last week and is very likely to win this one.
