Josh Douglas added this 4-pounder moments ago to rocket up the leaderboard from the back of the pack into about 60th.
Other anglers are making big moves, most notably Hunter Shryock who has broken the 22-pound mark to take the lead. Drew Benton, Austin Felix and Jake Whitaker all have over 20- pounds as well, with the remainder of the top 10 one legitimate bite away from joining these four anglers.
Bedding bass seem to be the best bet so far when looking for big ones. Drew Benton is a known sight fishing phenom, so it’s safe to assume at least one of the two 5-pound-plus fish he has in his boat came off bed, if not both. We watched Classic champ Jeff Gustafson blind fish a 4- pound bedder into the boat as well. And Tyler Rivet has been using his forward-facing sonar to targeting bedding bass in 6- to 8- feet of water that he cannot see with his eyes, but can see with his sonar.
However you choose to fish for them, the bedding bass are beating out the herring bite… for now.
