The big flutter spoon is no secret at this point, but what Cody Huff is throwing is definitely something new. Huff has a magnum flutter spoon with three big treble hooks hanging off of it, as opposed to the traditional one hanging from the tail end of the bait.
The biggest problem with a big spoon is the hookup ratio. The bass can gain a lot of leverage on a spoon when there’s just the one hook on the tail end. They’ll often tear off under the water or throw the bait on the jump.
What Huff has tied on stacks the odds greatly in his favor versus what the rest of the guys are throwing.
There will be some grumbling for sure about this bait, anglers saying it has too many hooks. A jerkbait has the same number, so does a Spook.
Get ready to see every spoon have 3 big trebles hanging off it. The game just changed again.
