We’re narrowing in on the final hours of Day 2. The two-day total needed to make the Top 10 will be interesting to see. But the most important cutline today is the coveted 50th place spot. Fiftieth will move on to Day 3 and be guaranteed at least $10,000. Everyone from 51st down will go home, those between 51st and 77th with $2,500 at least to pad their pockets.
The Day 3 cutline after Day 1 of competition sat at 14 pounds, 15 ounces. BassTrakk currently has John Cox sitting on the bubble with 25 pounds, 9 ounces. Likely by the end of the day, it’ll take a little more than double the Day 1 weight of Darold Gleason who sat just above the bubble yesterday. So 30 to 32 pounds is likely what we’re looking at. To throw out an exact number, let’s say 32 pounds, 3 ounces.
With less than an hour to go for the first flight of anglers, BassTrakk has Jake Whitaker in 10th with 38 pounds, 4 ounces. So we will most likely see it take 20- plus per day to sit in the Top 10 after Day 2. Let’s say 41 pounds, 14 ounces.
Looking at the best weights of Day 2 as projected by BassTrakk, the anglers caught them even better on Day 2. Current leader Brandon Cobb has the biggest bag of 29 pounds, 8 ounces. Bill Lowen with a massive comeback has 28 pounds, 6 ounces unofficially. Tyler Rivet and Micah Frazier both have more than 26 pounds in the well today.
We have 13 total bags projected at more than 20 pounds, where Day 1 only saw 11. And there are several more anglers who are close to the 20-pound mark, and then those who caught them good on Day 1 that don’t have a marshall to report weights to BassTrakk today. This is going to be a fun weigh-in to watch
