After dumping more than 24 pounds on the scales on Day 2, Greg Hackney made the comment that the early cloud cover helped him out big time. When pressed by B.A.S.S. emcee Dave Mercer for more details, Hackney was tight-lipped.
The shad spawn can be a huge player on Lake Seminole. It’s explosive early, and an angler can bust 20 pounds in 5 casts. But as soon as the sun hits the water’s surface, it’s ironically like a light switch being turned off. Cloud cover, however, helps it hold on. This is probably what Hackney is targeting. The clouds are out here on Day 2. We’ll see soon.
