Foutz throwing a hair jig

We’re starting to get a clearer picture on Day 3 of how our anglers have been fishing this week. Most of them have been a little tight-lipped so far this week, understandably not wanting to hurt their chances by oversharing too early. Even with LIVE cameras in a few of the front runner’s boats, it’s been hard to tell what they’re doing at times with a wide variety of small baits in play.

Day 1 leader Jacob Foutz has been throwing a small marabou hair jig to catch the majority of his fish this week, making a comment earlier that the fish he’s targeting on his primary area are starting to wise up to his approach a bit. He mentioned that he’s reeled his hair jig by a lot of the same fish on this shallow flat a couple hundred times and they’re starting to swim away from it.

He’s still catching a few with the hair jig though, sitting with two relatively small fish in the well for 5-12 today. But he’s starting to strongly consider cycling through some other baits in hopes of finding something the fish will bite a little better.
