Forward-facing Sonar tournaments finally fun to watch

Watching professional bass fishing has been a bit of a grind at times in recent years. A lot of looking at the back of the neck of an angler staring down at a screen— not real riveting stuff.

With forward-facing sonar technology and its complimentary techniques evolving by the minute the last few years, anglers have been tight lipped when it comes to sharing any info on whatever little tips, tricks or tweaks they could come up with. Cold shoulders kept cameramen in the back of the boat, and breaking the anglers concentration caused concern if they were to work up the nerve to ask for a little sliver of something for the fans.

Well, air has re-entered the room, partly on account of the new wearing off a bit and thanks to the unique coverage of Bassmaster LIVE Mix. With its incorporation of Elite anglers into the coverage after Days 1 and 2, we get incredible insight from the likes of Lee Livesay and Caleb Sumrall, who are fresh off fishing the waters where their competitors that faired better than they did are still duking it out.

Just a shot of a graph from a cameraman is now accompanied by a wealth of knowledge pouring out of the mouths of some of the best anglers in the world. They’re able to look on and learn themselves, while we listen in as they see subtle little deals that they previously missed throughout the week.

No longer are we counting neck hairs in silence. This is really, really good stuff.
