The goal for the Top 10 anglers is to catch five of the right ones, bass over 3 and 1/2 pounds. With so many 3- pounders in Lake Murray, this is the standard that’s been set for a limit filler. You can’t have five this size at the end of the day, cause 18 pounds isn’t going to get the deal done. But two of these quality keepers and a few big ones spell 22 pounds, and that’s the pace leader Kyoya Fujita is on through three days.
Five of the right ones have already been caught this morning, but they’re spread out across four anglers. Hunter Shryock, Brandon Cobb, Patrick Walters, and Drew Benton all have a good one in the boat already, Shryock is the only one with two. He has a 3-12 and a 4-12. A great start.
Less than five pounds separated first and tenth when the anglers left the dock this morning. Though Murray is full of big ones, no one is guaranteed 20 pounds on this fickle fishery. At the same time, we’ve seen three bags over 25 pounds weighed already this week. So, this one is far from over and all ten anglers have a viable shot to win. It’ll just take five of the right ones.
