I know, I know, folks are tired of hearing about it. But forward facing sonar is here to stay, like it or not. And as we expected after last week, it’s playing a role in this one too. Elite Series Rookie Joey Cifuentes III started Day 2 in 6th place with 19 pounds, 13 ounces. Cifuentes caught this near- 20- pound stringer fishing for big bass in 20 feet of water with a dropshot. He had nearly a 4- pound average, and mentioned losing multiple bass that would have helped yesterday.
It’s less likely FFS will win here, considering the shallow anglers have more room to spread out this week and that there should be a massive wave move shallow at some point. But, a surprising number of post-spawn bass were brought to the scales yesterday. So, the deeper bite could get even better too as bass pull back out. Let’s keep our eyes on Cifuentes for now. What he does on Day 2 will be a huge indicator of how much this new age style of fishing will impact the game being played this week
