With Day 3 drawing to a close, it appears as though Austin Felix is separating himself from the competition quite a bit. Day 2 leader Chris Johnston has finally started to show signs that he’s human after all, as the grind otherwise known as Lake Oahe has caught up with him.
Still, there’s a little time for Johnston to narrow the gap, sitting 4- pounds or so back with only 12- pounds on the day. But his fish are cookie cutter 2-pounders for the most part, meaning it’ll take a couple big bites for him to catch-up currently.
The others in the top five (Taku Ito, Matt Robertson and Tyler Rivet) have all done fairly well to match Felix’s strong Day 3 performance, with around 15- pounds apiece. But the smallest fish in the bag for these three and Felix is around 3-pounds. This means it’s just as likely that Felix extends his lead with a cull as it is one of these three are able to chip away at the 4- to 5- pound lead he has over them.
