With the cloud cover low and thick, there was concern that today might have been a little tougher sledding for the vast majority of our field. Smallmouth are visual feeders, so sunshine makes things easier. But the bass are still biting no doubt.
Kyoya Fujita has had the most impressive start to the day, rounding out a limit worth 17-12 with two nice 4s in the box and three 3-0s. He started the day in 10th, less than 2 pounds back, and currently sits in the lead on BassTrakk. Those two big fish are critical and put Fujita just three more bites away from leading this thing going into Day 3.
Carl Jocumsen sits in 2nd with a solid start worth 17-4. But all 17-pound bags are not created equal. Jocumsen has three heavy 3s, but nothing over 4. He’ll need a couple real big ones (or to cull several times) to stay in the Top 10 by the end of the day.
Roommates Jay Przekurat and Alex Redwine are two to keep your eyes on. Both are lingering in the Top 10 with only two bass each in the boat. But among those four fish are three 4-pounders, the kind these guys are looking for.
