“I don’t know how I’m going to catch a bass tomorrow.”
This was heard time and time again in some form or another as the Day 1 weigh-in drug on. But those anglers saying this weren’t weighing in limits for 4- or 5- pounds. They were weighing in limits of 4- and 5- pounders.
“It looks good. But I caught my fifth fish with 4 minutes to go,” said one angler. And the same sentiment was expressed time and time again. For some, the fifth keeper came an hour before weigh-in, others with only minutes left. And still others never got that fifth bite at all.
Larry Nixon brought in 12 pounds, 13 ounces on Day 1, with only two fish. The big ones bit yesterday, but they were few and far between. We have eyes on the top contenders today. But even several of them weren’t confident coming across stage yesterday. Let’s see who can stay consistent.
