The Dakota Lithium Bassmaster Elite at Lake Champlain is now officially underway. There are several things to look out for today, so let’s get to it.
For starters, not a lot of talk pre-tournament about Ticonderoga, at least not from anyone who is planning on making the run down there. A few guys brought up the fact that the water is 3 feet higher this time than it was the last time the Elites visited Champlain in 2021. And that this high water should bring Ticonderoga back into the picture, as the fishing vastly improves there when the water is high.
But the question now is, will anyone even be able to make that run to find out? The possibility has lessened due to strong winds predicted for Day 1, 10- to 20- mph out of the south/southeast. Winds out of the south are the worst when running on Champlain, which is situated straight north to south. Moving around anywhere on Champlain will be challenging today, running way down lake likely unfathomable.
It’s calm and sunny for the moment at takeoff however. The winds are supposed to start building at around 11.
