As Day 2 winds down, the eyes of half the field are focused on the 47th spot. With wildly unpredictable weights and inconsistent fishing, it’s anybody’s guess as to what it’s going to take to fish on Day 3. So here’s mine.
Typically you can double the Day 1 weight and add a little, but I think this is going to be one of the rare instances where we see the weights drop a bit.
It’s just too hard for the anglers to find a consistent bite on Oahe. And it’s really hard to leave fish to find fish, especially when you can see them on your sonar and know they bit there the day before. But the time it takes to give up on the bass that aren’t biting to go in search of active fish is going to bite several anglers today I’m afraid.
Matt Arey sat on the bubble to start the day with 12-2. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it only takes 20- pounds to get into Day 3. According to BassTrakk, 47th currently has far less than that at 15-5. But this is particularly low due to a large number of anglers that either have bad cell service or do not have marshals to report catches.
So 20-pounds is a good guess, as we’ll see the bubble rise when the fish hit the scales this evening. But I believe that’s about the cap, as anglers are having to battle the fishery more so than each other this week.
