B.A.S.S. photographer Andy Crawford just reported from on the water that he’s in the Horse Island area covering anglers, of which there are plenty. Several anglers made the comment that Okeechobee was going to fish small this week. Well in an area that’s the size of “two football fields”, Crawford currently has eyes on Jamie Hartman, Cliff Prince, Brandon Palaniuk, Darold Gleason, Kenta Kimura, Josh Stracner and 11 local fisherman. And more are pouring in by the minute.
The lack of submerged vegetation on Lake Okeechobee due to recent hurricanes and spraying means there are very few productive areas. Submerged vegetation like hydrilla filter the sediment out of the water, clearing it up significantly. These are the areas bass like to to be in the most. Their scarcity the bass and the boats flocking to them.
