John Cox is not an offshore angler, he’d be the first to tell you that. He chooses to go shallow anytime he can, and then still goes shallow to force a bite even when he shouldn’t. And “shouldn’t” isn’t really the right term, since he somehow still makes it work up shallow when all odds are against him.
This morning though, he’s offshore. Cox is in fact so far outside his comfort zone, that he just thanked fellow Elite angler and close friend Brandon Lester for tying his FG knot for him last night.
“Still trying to figure out how to tie that thing.”
Cox also just told us on LIVE that he believes the smallmouth bass he’s targeting are using the larger carp in the area for shade… My mind doesn’t even work in a way as to think of that as a possibility.
But who could argue with Cox’s success. A national treasure when it comes to bass fishing, Cox is always fun to watch and a threat to win anytime his boat is wet.
