Cox getting lucky

John Cox hooked a 4- pounder, it buried up in a brushpile for what surely felt like an hour to Cox and then the fish willingly swam out of the pile. Cox babied the fish to the boat, knowing that it likely frayed his line while it was buried up in the pile. He got the fish in the boat and then just started to laugh.

“That’s the kind of crazy stuff that happens when you win, I think,” said Cox with a big ol’ smile on his face.

Everything has to go right to win a blue trophy. Call it luck if you’d like. Roman philosopher Seneca defined luck this way, “When preparation meets opportunity.” Cox is getting lucky out there right now. That’s very bad luck for the rest of the field.
