One minute and 54 seconds, that’s how long Cory Johnston just fought a fish prior to losing it at the side of the boat. He’s likely just ounces away from the 100-pound mark at the moment if he’s not quite there yet.
That was a hard one to watch. Cory has been snake bit over the years here in Elite Series events, and the bad run continues.
Understandably it is hard for many of us across the country to feel bad for a guy who’s caught nearly a hundred pounds of smallmouth the last four days… while wearing a hoody in mid-July. But you’ve got to feel for a guy who’s this close on his home water to doing something no one else has ever done before, other than his current competition on the water.
Hopefully, that one doesn’t cost him.
