Stetson Blaylock reported having had a grueling practice. He slowed down since and that equated to 11-3 on Day 1 and 6th position going out today. Swapping to a Texas rig, Blaylock went to work this morning and boated a quick limit.
“Seven thirty-five on Day 2 and we got a limit.”
Blaylock was visibly relieved, and ecstatic, apologetically happy even to have a limit worth a mere 4-3. He kept saying, “I know they’re little, but…”. No need to apologize, a limit is hard to come by here, especially this early. And what it means to Blaylock is way more than the weight, it’s the peace of mind to go head hunting now.
Blaylock can now look to greener pastures, small creeks where he caught multiple quality fish yesterday. The bites were few and far between there, but with a limit in the boat, he can now go fish confidently for a big bite knowing he’s fishing tomorrow and won’t crash and burn completely if the big bites don’t come. Blaylock notes that it’s time to shift his mindset from trying to make the 50 cut to making the Top 10. His confidence is building.
