After several slow hours of fishing, Jason Christie has landed his first three keepers of the day.
He spent the early morning hours running main river grass, but now he has moved into a backwater area that features lily pads.
Christie has almost exclusively thrown a frog today, but his first and third bites came on a wacky rig. The first pocket in the creek he is currently in did not produce a bite and he had to move all the way to the back of this current pocket to get bites.
Christie turned heads with a 23-pound Day 3 bag that included a 9-pounder. He will need another big bag today to overtake tournament leader Brandon Palaniuk, who already has a limit.
It’s hot and sunny here on Lay Lake with little in the way of breeze, similar to conditions were when Christie caught them yesterday.
