Really great camera work from the JM crew this week, laying out the playing field well for us with the Hummingbird Bird’s Eye View. This shot of Bryan Schmitt fishing a shallow flat is a good representation of what we’ve seen serval anglers doing this week.
Though at first glance the water may look muddy, it’s actually very clear and the yellow/brown color where the boat is sitting is simply sandy bottom, where the darker water around Schmitt is vegetation.
Schmitt’s boat is positioned in the clean bottom area, so he can cast his topwater up to the shallow line of vegetation. The bass are staging right along the edge of the vegetation, and Schmitt has his boat anchored out a good long cast away, so as not to spook the fish.
