Hunter Shryock is the first angler near the top of the field to fire a big shot, catching a 5- pounder on a vibrating jig a few minutes ago. The fish was gorging on a shad spawn and may have very well still been pre-spawn. This fish was fat, fat. And it gave Shryock the unofficial lead.
Brock Mosley caught a 4-pounder at 7:25, moving him up the leaderboard as well. There have already been a handful of 3- pounders caught too. And though that’s a good size fish on many fisheries, it’s par for a solid keeper on Murray currently.
Of the 103 anglers that went out on Day 1, 97 brought in a limit. Five hundred and six fish hit the scales. They combined to the tune of 1,710 pounds and 5 ounces. That’s 506 fish that weighed more than 3 and 1/4 pounds on average. That’s good fishing right there.
