Benton the first to hit 20 pounds

Drew Benton caught a 5-4 at 7:44 this morning. He added a 6-0 to the well at 10:47. That put him at 20 pounds, 4 ounces on the day. Most anglers projected 80- pounds plus to win this event. That’s 20- pounds a day on average, though several thought a 25-pound day would be in the mix.

Benton is the first to reach this bar that’s been set. Will he be able to raise it before weigh-in? Being one of the best sight fisherman on tour and with bedding bass all around, it’s likely. Anything over 2-12 will cull.
