BassTrakk: Day 1 vs Day 2

We took a deep dive into the BassTrakk data from Day 1 yesterday, and today we’re going to compare notes with the data we’ve gathered from Day 2.

There were a few less fish catches reported on Day 2, with only 605 compared to the 658 from Day 1. There was a significant drop in the current generation from Day 1 to Day 2, so that fall off in overall production by the 91-angler field makes sense. Current has been critical here on Pickwick, especially as it pertains to getting a big bite. Though as we learned through the BassTrakk data on Day 1, the early current paid better dividends on a wide-scale than the current in the afternoon like everyone thought.

What did Day 2 data reveal?

7 a.m. – 8 a.m. 75 67
8 a.m. – 9 a.m. 119 81

By the numbers, the more widespread bite came again as the current first started to get going between 8 and 11 o’clock, but it did hang on a little better on Day 2 and stay steady as the day went on, skipping the midday lull we saw on Day 1.

3-pounders 123 96
4-pounders 36 24
5-pounders 9 9

7-pounders 0 1

As far as quality bites go, there were 130 bass over 3- pounds logged into BassTrakk on Day 2, compared to 170 over 3- pounds caught on Day 1. Showing the quality bites really fell off on Day 2. The exact Day 2 numbers are below.

The late bite did show up for some. The most impressive late flurry came by way of Cody Huff, who put 5 fish over 4-pounds in the boat between 1:53 and 2:16. In just 23 minutes, Huff amassed 22- pounds, 3- ounces to tie John Cox for the biggest bag of Day 2.

We’ve seen a good early bite and a slow and steady bite as the day wears on so far here on Day 3. It’ll be interesting to see tomorrow how the numbers stack up as the remaining 47 anglers duke it out today.
