Brandon Palaniuk has us on the edge of our seats. He just added his fourth fish of the day, some 50 minutes before the weigh-in is set to begin. This bass bumped him up to 42nd place, almost ensuring that he’ll make the cut to fish tomorrow if he can fill his limit with even a 14-inch squeaker.
Meanwhile, Chris Johnston maintains the lead for the derby and Brandon Lester sits in a strong 8th. The AOY race won’t be decided for at least another day at this point, as Palaniuk even missing the cut doesn’t ensure he’s out of it. But Lester and Johnston could make this a two horse race stretching into the final day of competition on the Mississippi River, should Palaniuk slip back far enough below the cutline.
