Five of the top 6 anglers in the Progressive Angler of the Year points race are still fishing today, with John Cox missing the cut by a few ounces and holding down the 3rd spot at the moment, unofficially based on BassTrakk.
Brandon Cobb is hovering around the 15-point lead he started the day with. If BassTrakk’s portrayal of Cobb’s closest pursuer were correct, the lead would be larger. Kyle Welcher sits in 2nd in AOY, but in 50th today with no registered catches at the present moment. This is most likely not accurate however and due to bad cell service or the lack of a marshal instead. Give Welcher 15 pounds and he’d move back up within about 15 points of Cobb on the year.
The 4th spot in AOY belongs to Tyler Rivet, who sits in 45th on BassTrakk. Patrick Walters is in 18th at the moment and 5th in AOY. And Drew Benton sits in 6th and 25th.
