If you’ve been watching Bassmaster LIVE today, it’s been a grind for several of the guys that have cameras in the boat. And even for Shane LeHew and Tyler Rivet, who are all around the Top 10, it’s been a lot of spin poling and graph gazing. A slow, grueling grind. But make no mistake, the field as a whole is absolutely wrecking them on Murray.
BassTrakk is, at best, a good tool to gauge what’s going on out on the water and get a rough estimate of how the field is doing as a whole. Undoubtedly, someone will drop a big bag on the scales today that never even came across the unofficial leaderboard all day. So BassTrakk is a best estimate, and if anything it’s always an underestimator of the fishing as a whole.
All that being said, five fish limits stretch all the way back to 90th place, with a few anglers’ shy of their limits but still having more weight than the lightest limits. The bass are biting. But what’s more impressive, 14- pounds stretches all the way back to 56th right now. Knowing that several of these guys typically underestimate their catches, it’s safe to say that almost half the field has a 3- pound average in the boat. That’s catching them.
